The Peters

50 square miles, about two-thirds of which lies in
Allegheny County and the remainder in Washington
County.

Chartiers Creek Watershed Association (ChCWA)
represents the upper Chartiers Creek Watershed in
Washington County, Pennsylvania.

This
association was formed to
promote the
restoration and enhancement of Streets Run Creek
through flood protection and prevention and stream
improvements.

Turtle Creek
Watershed Assn. |
Since 1970,
TCWA has been involved in remediating abandoned mine
drainage contamination, preventing flooding,
improving waste water treatment, educating the
community about water quality and quantity issues,
addressing stormwater problems, reducing erosion and
subsequent sedimentation, and monitoring water
quality across the watershed.

Montour Trail
Council |
The Montour
Trail is a multi-use non-motorized recreational
rail-trail near Pittsburgh, PA that will ultimately
extend 46 miles from Moon Township near Coraopolis
to Clairton. Currently, multiple sections of the
trail totaling over 40 miles are completed. New
sections are being added each year.

Hollow Oak Land Trust |
The Hollow
Oak Land Trust (HOLT) works to acquire land for
conservation through acquisition and conservation
easements. In addition, HOLT promotes the education
of the public and municipal officials on
conservation issues.

Independence Conservancy |
The
Independence Conservancy is a watershed-based land
trust founded in 1999 in Aliquippa, PA. This
volunteer group of environmental enthusiasts share a
vision of clean water, beautiful vistas and special
places in the Raccoon Creek Watershed preserved
forever. |

Rivers Wet Weather |
The 3 Rivers
Wet Weather Demonstration Program works with 83
communities in the Allegheny County Sanitary
Authority service area. No other region in the U.S.,
outside of Allegheny County, has as many individual
sewage collection systems directed to one sewage
treatment facility.

The Three
Rivers Habitat Partnership (TRHP), a regional
project of the Wildlife Habitat Council, assists
corporations, communities, and organizations to
enhance wildlife habitat in the Pittsburgh region.
